JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police on Monday arrested a man believed to be responsible for more than 10 rapes in the province.

The 30-year-old suspect was apprehended while sleeping at his Ivory Park home.

Police said he had been arrested before, but the case collapsed due to a lack of forensic evidence.

According to the police’s Lungelo Dlamini, the suspect operated in Tembisa, Ivory Park and Olifantsfontein.

When officers raided his home on Monday, they recovered money, cellphones, jewellery and remote controls used to jam cars.

The suspect will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
