JOHANNESBURG - A group of grifters who con business owners out of thousands of Rands are still said to be operating in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs.

The con artists remain at large even after months of police investigation.

The group allegedly approaches businesses with the offer to be the front of what it claims to be a legal exchange of semi-precious gems and animal products.

When the victim agrees to the deal, the con artists ask for a deposit.

The group then disappears with the money.

One man who was approached by the group allowed Eyewitness News to accompany him to one of the meetings with one of the syndicate members.

Despite a few differences, the tactics remained the same.

Investigators called for business people to avoid deals that seem too good to be true.
