CAPE TOWN - Another police officer has been gunned down in Khayelitsha.

Yanga Tshefu was shot dead in his home in Makhaza during the early hours of Friday morning.

The 27-year-old constable was off-duty at the time.

The police's November Filander says Tshefu died while being rushed to hospital.

"Three suspects entered his house before shooting him,” says Tshefu.

No one has been arrested yet and it is still unknown what the motive for the attack is.

Earlier this week, Police Minister Riah Phiyega said police killings were on the increase.

The South African Police Union (Sapu) has also called for a plan to curb police killings.
