CAPE TOWN - Police divers have found the body of a seven-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a river in Thornton this week.

Dale Eastland was playing with a friend on Wednesday, when he fell into the Elsieskraal River in Thornton.

The search for his body resumed on Thursday morning after rising waters and bad weather conditions stalled efforts on Wednesday.

Metro emergency services spokesperson Keri Davids said his body was recovered at "around 10am" in Athlone.
