SOWETO - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe spoke about the benefits of a political education on Sunday, saying it aims to produce cadres who want to advance the interests of society.

Motlanthe was addressing graduates of Gauteng’s political school at a ceremony in Soweto.

The school, called the Walter Sisulu Leadership Academy, was launched in 2011.

Motlanthe said such programmes equip one with the intellectual and political tools needed to change society.

“Without political education, we can very easily stagnate because of a lack of injection of ideas into our broad stream, blunting our vision, resulting in the struggle blowing of course.”
