Johannesburg -Track athlete Caster Semenya has won a silver medal at the London Olympic Games on Saturday night in the 800m finals.

The former world champion finished in a time of 1:57.23 earning team SA its sixth medal in the Games.

Russia's Mariya Savinova won gold with her team mate Ekaterina Poistogova winning bronze.
