Pippie Kruger's parents say the three-year-old girl is showing impressive signs of rehabilitation.

JOHANNESBURG - Pippie Kruger's parents on Friday said the three-year-old girl is showing impressive signs of progress in her rehabilitation.

The toddler sustained burns to 80 percent of her body during an accident on New Year's Day.

Two months ago, Kruger successfully underwent groundbreaking skin graft surgery at Johannesburg’s Garden City hospital.

She is now receiving physiotherapy, and speech and occupational therapy to aid her recovery.

Kruger's mother, Anika, said she is now learning to sit up by herself.

“She has been flat on her back for seven months, but there are signs that she really wants to do stuff. I’m very proud of her.”
