JOHANNESBURG - The suspended head of the state attorney's office in Pretoria on Friday refused to comment about her drunk driving arrest and denied it ever happened.

But police confirmed Moipone Mosidi was arrested in Muldersdrift in June following an accident on the N14 highway involving her Mercedes Benz.

Mosidi was suspended in April and is facing a disciplinary hearing relating to irregular payments made to a law firm.

When Eyewitness News asked Mosidi to confirm her arrest for drunk driving she said she was shocked and denied any knowledge of the incident.

She refused to comment saying she was busy arranging a funeral for a family member.

According to the police, she was arrested following an accident involving three vehicles.

She was detained at the Muldersdrift Police Station and released on R1,500 bail.

Officials are still awaiting blood tests to be analysed and the matter is due to go to court in December.

While Mosidi’s disciplinary hearing is still underway, the Justice Department says it will monitor the criminal case to determine whether any additional action must be taken against her.
