Kaylee Kruser | 10 August 2012 CAPE TOWN - The South African Weather Services on Friday told the public to brace themselves for a stormy weekend. A cold front, accompanied by gale force winds and heavy downpours, is expected later. At the same time, snow is expected in the Karoo. South African Weather Service forecaster Stella Nake said, “We are expected a cold front on Saturday. It will start clearing on Sunday morning.” Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa urged motorists to drive carefully. “We would like to urge motorists to exercise caution on the roads.” Earlier this week many parts of the country experienced extreme weather conditions. Gauteng saw the worst snowfall since 1981. Some of the country’s borders had to be closed due to the heavy snow. Meanwhile, rescue officials are still searching for a paramedic that was swept away by heavy rains in Mossel Bay. (Edited by Lindiwe Mlandu)
