CAPE TOWN - Two people were arrested for the illegal possession of abalone, Western Cape police confirmed on Friday.

Officials tracked down the vehicle carrying abalone after it overturned on the N2 between Caledon and Riviersonderend.

The police's November Filander said, “We found a Nissan Lavina which had overturned. Police recovered about 20 bags of abalone. They arrested a male and a female.”

Meanwhile, a Chinese national was arrested on Thursday following an abalone bust worth R12 million in Milnerton, Cape Town.
