ANCYL threatens WC government
The ANC Youth League demanded Premier Helen Zille respond to their demands.
CAPE TOWN - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) on Friday marched to the Western Cape Legislature and demanded Premier Helen Zille respond to their demands.
After walking more than five kilometres from Salt River, hundreds of Youth League supporters demanded to see the premier.
“We want Zille, we want Zille,” the crowd chanted.
Improved housing and service delivery in townships were only a few issues on their list of grievances.
“The Western Cape government must address the poor. They must stop focusing on the whites.”
The group vowed to make the city and province ungovernable if their demands are not met within seven days.
The province has recorded the highest number of service delivery protests in 2012.
