Hashim Amla tells Alicia Pillay that the Protea's test match win in England, made his 311 innings even sweeter.

CAPE TOWN - Hashim Amla said on Tuesday that his batting record finally hit home.

Amla scored an unbeaten 311, helping the Proteas to an innings and 12-run victory over England - in their first test.

The next test gets underway on the 2nd of August in Headingley.

Amla says helping the team win is vital.

“I think the fact that we won the test match makes the innings more special that I contributed to a winning cause.”

Amla says he stays grounded by focusing on the job at hand.

"Not every day is the day you will excel and when it does go your way I do take it my stride and enjoy the moment understand that you never know what the future could hold.

"It’s a process of trying to be successful in the next game."
