[LISTEN] SA legends John Kani, Connie Chiume on their roles in 'Black Panther'

| 'Black Panther', Marvel Studios' superhero film based on an African superhero, releases across South African cinemas on Friday, 16th February.

JOHANNESBURG - Black Panther, Marvel Studios' superhero film based on an African superhero, releases across South African cinemas on Friday, 16 February.

South African acting legends, Dr John Kani and Connie Chiume chat to 947's Anele on The Breakfast Club show about their roles in Black Panther, the response from fans and more.

"I think the excitement comes from the fact that Black Panther, for a change it has portrayed Africa in a very positive manner and women have big parts there," says Chiume. "It has really empowered us as a continent to show what Africa is all about."

Dr Kani stars as King T'Challa, the ruler of the fictional African kingdom, Wakanda and father to the lead character, played by Chadwick Boseman. Kani's son, Atandwa Kani, makes an appearance in the movie as a young King T'Challa.
