Zim poacher gets 10 years for killing 2 black rhino

HARARE - A poacher who shot and killed two black rhino at a nature reserve in southern Zimbabwe has been sentenced to 10 years in jail.
The man was arrested after he left his cellphone at the scene of the crime.
The 44-year-old poacher, Godknows Mashame, shot and killed two black rhino on Christmas Eve 2016.
He dehorned both animals and thought he’d got away with it.
But game rangers found his cellphone at the site of the killing, and that’s what helped them to track him down to his home in central Zimbabwe
The state-run Chronicle reports that a magistrate in Beitbridge has now sentenced the poacher to 10 years in jail for the crime.
Zimbabwe has around 700 black and white rhino, most of them kept under tight security in game parks and private conservancies.
