Mahlobo: New NEC must represent all ANC members
The ANC’s national executive committee is the highest decision-making body and who makes it onto that list is crucial.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC)’s David Mahlobo says those who succeed in becoming members of the national executive committee (NEC) on Wednesday night must remember that the ANC belongs to all and not just its leadership.
The commission’s report back sessions have now been completed.
The announcement of the new NEC is expected on Wednesday evening.

Mahlobo says he, like other delegates, have accepted Ramaphosa as president and will support him.
The ANC’s NEC is the highest decision-making body and who makes it onto that list is crucial as it sets the tone of the kind of leadership that can be expected.
Mahlobo, who is a Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma supporter and staunch Jacob Zuma ally, says the new NEC must represent all ANC members.
“The expectation that those who’d have succeeded to get into the NEC, they must know that the ANC belongs to all of us and they must lead all of us.”
Mahlobo says all must rally behind the outcomes of this conference.
“Those who have different views must not go back to trenches. Their lobby groups must be disbanded so that we can proceed as the ANC.”
At the same time, Fikile Mbalula says there has been much positivity coming out of the election of Ramaphosa.
The announcement of the NEC and Ramaphosa’s maiden speech is expected on Wednesday evening.
