The arrests come a few days after Police Minister Fikile Mbalula officially launched a satellite police station inside the Umlazi residence.

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested four men, including an officer, in connection with murders at the infamous Glebelands hostel.

The residence has been linked to at least 95 murders in the province since 2014, without a single conviction.

The Moerane Commission of Inquiry, which is investigating political killings in KZN, has heard how Glebelands is an area where hitmen live and are used to carry out political assassinations.

The arrests also come a few days after Police Minister Fikile Mbalula officially launched a satellite police station inside the Umlazi residence.

Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says: “A 29-year-old suspect was arrested at Harding and two suspects, aged 45 and 34, were arrested at the Glebelands hostel during a search of one of the rooms.”
