Lesufi to visit 2 primary schools after calls for principals to be removed
Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is at the Bryneven Primary School in Bryanston where parents have accused the principal of fraud among others.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is dealing with grievances at two schools in the province on Tuesday where parents are demanding the removal of principals.
The MEC is at the Bryneven Primary School in Bryanston where parents have accused the principal of fraud, mismanagement and nepotism.
This parent says they have proof of their claims.
“We are still out here in full force in the rain, protesting for the school that we love. We want our school back.”
Lesufi says he will also meet with parents at the Noordgesig Primary School in southern Johannesburg, where the appointment of a black principal has been met with protests.
The parents boycotted a meeting with the provincial Education Department on Monday, demanding to see Lesufi himself.
The MEC says he will take action and resolve the matter as soon as possible.
“We can’t go out like this when dealing with these issues. We need legislation which strengthens the way in which appointments are made. But I will go there and met with all of them. By the time I leave, a decision will be taken, whether the principal is there or the SGB is there. One must fall, unfortunately.”
