ANC places Emfuleni mayor on special leave over sex abuse claims

The party says it reached the decision pending an investigation by law enforcement agencies.

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng says that the Emfuleni Municipality will soon have an acting new mayor after current mayor, Simon Mofekeng, was place on special leave.

Mofokeng is facing allegations of sexual abuse and is he’s accused of sexually grooming a 14-year-old girl.

The party says it reached the decision pending an investigation by law enforcement agencies.
