Presidency still finalising Fees Commission report
There have been renewed protests at some universities, with students demanding the president to release the report.
JOHANNESBURG - The Presidency says it is at the final stages of processing the much-anticipated Fees Commission report.
The City Press reported that the Heher Commission found that free higher education is not viable for all and that other models need to be adopted.
The commission was chaired by Justice Arthur Heher, assisted by advocate Gregory Ally and Ms Leah Thembisile Khumalo.
There have been renewed protests at some universities, with students demanding the president to release the report, which he received in August.
The Presidency's Bongani Nqulunga says a more detailed response is expected by the end of this week.
“The Presidency is talking to departments in government. The president cannot just release a report like this without stating the next steps. The work of finalising the work will be completed by the end of the week.”
