Maimane: Shaun ‘The Sheep’ must reinstate all Zuma charges

The DA leader says this morning's ruling by the Supreme Court is an opportunity for President Zuma to have his day in court and be held accountable.

JOHANNESBURG – Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane has called for the charges against President Jacob Zuma to be reinstated as soon as possible.

Maimane says the ruling by the Supreme Court is an opportunity for Zuma to have his day in court and be held accountable like any other South African.

He’s called on National Prosecuting Authority head Shaun Abrahams to serve Zuma with an indictment in order for the court process to begin as soon as possible.

“The matter is now straightforward. The charges now stand and a court of law must hear the matter.”

Maimane has called on Zuma not to stall the inevitable.

“While everyone is allowed to approach a court for relief, the matter at hand is a simple and requires no further deliberations. We urge Mr Zuma to stop wasting public funds for lengthy appeals.”

Maimane says the ruling is a win for justice and the law.

“I’m asking 'Shaun the Sheep’ to commit by reinstating all 783 charges and furnish the people of South Africa with a date by which they will see these charges proceed. Advocate Abrahams must give a response to us within 10 days.”
