CAPE TOWN - In the trial of alleged wife killer Jason Rohde, a State pathologist says a second autopsy ordered by the accused is misleading.

Susan Rohde was allegedly murdered at the Spier Hotel near Stellenbosch in July last year.

Pathologist Akmal Coetzee-Khan has presented evidence in which he suggests Rohde's suicide was staged.

He highlighted several injuries that were indicative of defensive wounds and a physical altercation.

He also determined that the mother of three died as a result of a lack of oxygen after manual strangulation and smothering.

This is in stark contrast to what doctor Reggie Perumal found.

Perumal conducted a second autopsy as requested by her husband.

He determined the death was consistent with ligature strangulation.

But Dr Coetzee-Khan noted several issues with Perumal's findings and found certain sections "deliberately misleading" and vague.
