JOHANNESBURG - Nineteen children have been hurt in what’s believed to have been a stampede at a primary school in Ivory Park.

Paramedics say it’s not yet clear what led to the crush but all injured have been taken to hospital.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances around the stampede.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said: “ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found the provincial services already in attendance. On closer inspection, we discovered that a total of 19 children had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.”
