Mitchells Plain group launches hotline for abuse victims

CAPE TOWN - The Mitchells Plain Crisis Forum has on Thursday launched a hotline for abuse victims to seek help or supply anonymous tip-offs.
The forum's Facebook page has a "call now" option. When clicked directly, it connects the person to the group's chairperson, Joanie Fredericks.
She started the forum in March this year following the murder of 11-year-old Stacha Arendse in Tafelsig.
Fredericks says victims could also contact her via WhatsApp or alternatively drop a message in the Facebook account's inbox.
“The idea behind this is for people to talk to somebody, even when they are scared to take action. They can be assured that nobody will know their names. As a rule, confidentiality is important within the organisation.”
The 11-year-old girl’s body was found on a soccer field along Swartklip Road earlier this year following an extensive search by police and community members.
Randy Tango has been accused of the kidnapping, rape and murder of 11-year-old girl.
Tango was arrested shortly after the child's body was found.
