CAPE TOWN – At least 50 firefighters have been deployed to a building fire in Blackheath.

The cause of the blaze is unclear at this stage and no injuries have been reported.

Fire and rescue's Edward Bosch says officials are on scene.

“We have 11 fire tankers and 50 firefighters attending to a building that’s alight as well as recycled waste burning on the property. The fire is still out of control.”

Meanwhile, extra firefighters have been requested to assist with a vegetation fire near Camps Bay.
