JOHANNESBURG - Five relatives have been shot and killed in Nteke near Marianhill in KwaZulu-Natal.

Police say unknown gunmen entered the family home on Thursday night and opened fire.

Four men died at the scene while a woman succumbed to her wounds in hospital.

In a statement released on Friday, police say the five family members were aged between 19 and 34.

The police's Nqobile Gwala said: “The Marianhill police have opened five counts of murder and the case has been transferred to the provincial organised crime task team who is investigating the matter.”

No arrests have yet been made.

It’s the second mass murder in the province.

Earlier this week, eight members of a family were gunned down in Umvoti during an attack on the two rondavels where they lived.
