JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Premier David Makhura has thanked motorists for their patience during the M1 highway upgrades.

Makhura joined Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba for a launch of the re-opening of the R200 million project on Tuesday.

The Gauteng Premier says the M1 will have four lanes which will be gradually opened from Sunday.

“The completion of the rehabilitation of the bridges, that’s the Oxford Bridge and the Federation Bridge on M1. The actual opening of the road will be on Sunday, but everything is ready, the work has been completed.”
