JOHANNESBURG - Two men have died while two others sustained serious injuries after a Soshanguve service delivery protest turned violent on Tuesday.
Police say the men, aged between 35 and 40, were found lying next to the railway line between the Marry Me informal settlement and Block VV in Soshanguve.
Police spokesperson Zanele Mtsweni said: “We found four males who’d been injured; one was certified dead on the scene, the other three were rushed to the hospital and one of them was declared dead upon arrival. We’re trying to investigate the matter, we’ve opened two cases of murder and no arrests have been made.”
Earlier on Tuesday, residents in the area barricaded roads with rocks and burning tyres, demanding better services and RDP housing.
