JOHANNESBURG - Drivers licence testing centers in Gauteng will be temporarily closed this week for equipment installation upgrades and staff training.

The Transport Department says it will be rolling out live enrolment units at all its centers.

This means offices will be closed for bookings but scheduled tests, renewal of license discs and card collection services will continue as normal.

The department's Melitah Madiba said, “This is part of the provinces modernisation agenda which is envisioned to improve efficiency, reduce waiting period at as well as minimise the possibility of fraud and corruption. The new technology is expected to improve service delivery while also promoting honest and good governance.”
