CAPE TOWN - No arrests have yet been made for the murder of a former African National Congress (ANC) ward councillor's daughter.

Khanyisile Sawutana's body was found near her grandparents’ home in New Crossroads, Nyanga, last Sunday.

Sawutana, aged 20, had been stabbed to death.

Her father, Nico Mzalisi, says the family is busy with funeral arrangements.

Mzalisi, who used to be a ward councillor in Philippi, left the ANC to join the Democratic Alliance last year.

The police's Frederick van Wyk says: “We can confirm a murder case has been opened for further investigation, but no arrests have been made.”
