JOHANNESBURG - The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department is calling on pupils who have experienced assault to report the matter to them as soon as possible.

This comes after a 19-year-old pupil, accused of assaulting another at Siyathuthuka Secondary School in Durban, was handed over to police.

In a video circulating on social media, a teenage girl is seen pinned against a wall before being kicked in the head and back several times.

The department's Kwazi Mthethwa says they welcome the arrest.

“We welcome the move and hope justice will be served. We hope the victim will find some comfort. We are very disappointed and that’s why we want to see justice being served.”
