‘Dumi lived for God’
Slain South African actor Dumi Masilela has been laid to rest at the Zuurfontein Cemetery.
JOHANNESBURG - Slain South African actor Dumi Masilela has been laid to rest at the Zuurfontein Cemetery on Gauteng’s East Rand.
Friends, family and colleagues paid tribute to the Rhythm City cast member on Saturday.
Masilela died in hospital after he was shot in a botched hijacking in Tembisa.
His widow, Simphiwe Ngema, says her husband had a fighting spirit and tremendous strength.
“When I got to the hospital, the first thing Dumi said to me was 'askies Nana, I’m so sorry'. He didn’t look like he was going to pass on. He looked strong and I looked at him and I said you’re the one that’s hurting and you’re saying sorry to me.
“Dumi had God in him. Dumi lived for God. Dumi has amazing strength.”

Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina says he will do all he can to ensure the culprits are caught.
“We’ll make sure that on behalf of the people of the city, we take a closer interest in the case until its finality. We know that Dumi is no more but we want justice to be served.”
