JOHANNESBURG - The Competition Commission says two laptops were stolen during a break-in at its Pretoria head office.

The commission has confirmed the incident took place on Tuesday and that the laptops belonged to staff in the division responsible for investigating cartels.

Police are investigating the matter.

Competition Commission spokesperson Sipho Ngwema says the Hawks are scrutinizing the case.

“Indeed, there was a break-in at the headquarters of the Competition Commission. Laptops were stolen.

“The matter was reported to the police and it has been escalated to the Hawks and therefore we’re waiting for the outcome of the investigation.”
