Sassa won't comment on Thokozani Magwaza’s sudden departure
Magwaza's life was apparently under threat after he cancelled R47 million worth of workstream contracts set up by Minister Bathabile Dlamini.
On Monday afternoon, the Social Development Department issued a statement saying that Magwaza's services have been terminated after a consultative process between him and Minister Bathabile Dlamini.

Sassa has referred all queries to the Social Development Department following the announcement that Magwaza's services have been terminated.
The department says his contract was terminated by mutual agreement but it’s not mentioned an irretrievable breakdown in the relationship between Magwaza and the minister.
Magwaza and the minister have clashed on several issues, particularly over the role the minister played in the Sassa payment scandal.
Earlier, Sassa maintained that it was still investigating the validity of the death threats made against Magwaza.
Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi said: “If we think it’s very important and in the interest of the organisation and the CEO himself that we can establish whether these things exist.”
Just last week it emerged that Magwaza was being pressured into accepting an exit package.
