Lindiwe Sisulu officially joins ANC presidential race
Speaking at an Eastern Cape event Lindiwe Sisulu told her supporters she will run a campaign of integrity and focus on eradicating corruption.
Sisulu, who is also human settlements minister, addressed a women's forum at the East London International Convention Centre where her campaign officially kicked off earlier on Saturday.
With the ANC's policy conference behind it potential candidates can now publicly accept nominations or put their names forward ahead of the party's elective conference in December.
For months several branches - including some in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu –Natal and Western Cape have been courting Sisulu to stand to be the ANC's next president.
The leadership of the branches believes the minister is a capable and honest leader, free from any scandals.
On Saturday she finally accepted the nominations.
Sisulu told her supporters she will run a campaign of integrity and focus on eradicating corruption.
It's understood she has the backing of the ANC Women's League in the Eastern Cape.
