CT officials to monitor protests by rival taxi groups

CAPE TOWN - Law enforcement officials will continue monitoring a section of Prince George Drive near Muizenberg on Thursday morning.

Protests flared up in the area this week related tensions between rival taxi groups.

A group of protesters gathered in the area on Thursday morning but have since dispersed.

The city’s Maxine Bezuidenhout says: “All roads along Prince George Drive have been reopened. Law enforcement agencies are currently monitoring the area. Approximately 30 protesters were detained and taken to subs.”
