#CourtneyPieters: Suspect charged with kidnapping, rape & murder
A man was arrested on Sunday night, a day after the Elsies River child's body was found in Epping.
CAPE TOWN - The case against the man accused of killing three-year-old Courtney Pieters has been postponed to next week.
Mortimer Saunders was arrested on Sunday night, a day after the Elsies River child's body was found in Epping.
He made his first appearance in the Goodwood Magistrates Court this morning.
Saunders faces one count of murder, one count of kidnapping and two counts of rape.
The case has been postponed to ascertain whether or not Saunders can apply for legal aid representation.
It's believed the man, who boarded at Pieters' family home, has been linked to the crime via CCTV footage.
Elsies River residents have called on parents to increase protection around their children.
Community members and people from surrounding areas attended a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the three-year-old girl on Sunday.
