Police vow to act on Roodepoort residents’ concerns
Community members on the West Rand have been barricading roads over illegal mining, crime and the erection of shacks near the suburb.
JOHANNESBURG - Roodepoort police station commander Sam Manala says officers will act on concerns raised by protesting community members.
Community members on the West Rand barricaded roads over illegal mining, crime and the erection of shacks near the suburb.
They are demanding that the structures be dismantled, arguing that they're devaluing the prices of properties.
Manala has promised to increase visibility.
“We have taken note of your concerns. And starting from now on we will deal with them. You need to organise yourselves, we need to form a forum, that is the one that will be able to work with us. And then you will get a new centre manager.”
