CAPE TOWN - Motorists in the Western Cape have been urged to use alternative routes this weekend as the N1 highway will be closed to traffic due the demolition of the Old Oak Road bridge.

The highway will be closed in both directions between Old Oak Road and the R300 interchange from 7pm on Friday evening.

The department’s Byron La Hoe says: “It’s better to avoid trying that portion of the N1 if you can. We’re encouraging motorists to use the broader freeways and other routes that are available.”
