McBride, Matakata meet to strengthen cooperation
Ipid boss Robert McBride and acting Hawks head Yolisa Matakata have pledged to cooperate closely in fighting corruption.
The meeting signals a change from the hostile relationship between McBride and former Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza.
The embattled Ntlemeza led an investigation into an attempted murder case, dating back to when McBride was Ekurhuleni metro police chief in 2006.
The Ipid head has denied any wrongdoing.
McBride and Matakata have pledged to cooperate closely in fighting corruption.
The Hawks' Hangwani Mulaudzi said, “We find it as a good move in terms of making sure that we move forward and bring confidence to the public of this country that these entities are working together and more of these kinds of meetings are envisaged in the future.”
