Vuwani: Govt working to get learners back in class
The Basic Education Department says it's working to make sure thousands of pupils return to classrooms following disruptions caused by violent protests.
A shutdown by residents in the area has entered its second week, with the community demanding that Vuwani return to its former municipality.
The protests over demarcation turned deadly last week when two people were killed in a car accident caused by a barricade placed on a main road during a demonstration.
Education spokesman Naledzani Rasila says the department working to make sure thousands of pupils are returned to the classroom.
“We are having meetings with our own stakeholders, trying to see what we can do. Should the strike end tomorrow, what can we do to assist our learners?”
