JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg is now seeking a court order against residents in Granville in Alexandra who have illegally occupied land.
The residents put up shacks over the weekend and again on Wednesday morning, complaining that they had no money to pay for rent.
Johannesburg metro police say they have issued notices to the illegal occupants to take down their structures.
The city's Michael Sun say they are consulting with lawyers.
“We’ve requested the city to proceed with the necessary court process and once we’re in the possession of a court order, we will be able to move forward with the eviction.”
