JOHANNESBURG – The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) has planned a protest against the Road Accident Fund (RAF) on Friday.

Numsa says RAF workers are striking countrywide because of the state of the company.

The RAF was declared bankrupt earlier this year.

It is understood that workers are unhappy with pay, while executives are allegedly earning up to R5 million a year.

Numsa's Phakamile Hlubi says at least 1,500 disgruntled workers are expected to march to the Department of Transport in Pretoria.

“Our workers use their expertise every day to service the poor but they are unable to do their work properly as they are poorly paid and the management of the RAF is in shambles.”
