FUL satisfied with ConCourt Sassa issue
Freedom Under Law says it's gratified that the court has put Bathabile Dlamini under close supervision.
CAPE TOWN – Legal rights group Freedom Under Law (FUL) says it's extremely pleased with today's Constitutional Court judgment on the social grants issue, particularly as it relates to the future conduct of Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini.
She's been ordered to report back to the court every three months on an action plan for the future payment of social grants, and could be held personally liable for costs in the matter.
FUL today was granted the right to intervene in the matter brought by the Black Sash, says it's gratified that the court has put the minister under close supervision.
FUL chairperson Judge Johann Kriegler said: “It’s highly exceptional and a clear indication that the court disapproves with the way the minister has dealt with the matter.”
