Murder accused Zwelethu Mthethwa to know his fate
Internationally acclaimed artist Zwelethu Mthethwa allegedly killed sex worker Nokuphila Kumalo in Woodstock in April 2013.
CAPE TOWN – Judgement will be delivered in the murder trial of internationally acclaimed artist Zwelethu Mthethwa on Thursday.
Mthethwa allegedly killed sex worker Nokuphila Kumalo in Woodstock in April 2013.
He’s believed to have kicked and beaten the 23-year-old to death.
The artist has maintained his innocence ever since charges were levelled against him nearly four years ago.
He claims he cannot recall what happened on the evening of Kumalo's killing, but denies any involvement.
CCTV footage captured Mthethwa's vehicle at the crime scene and also shows the assault.
The State has argued the accused is the attacker on the footage.
But defence attorney William Booth says his client cannot be identified due to the poor quality of the footage.
