JOHANNESBURG – The African National Congress (ANC) struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada remains in a stable condition at the Johannesburg hospital.

His foundation says he is currently sedated and recovering slowly.

The 87-year-old was initially admitted last week for dehydration, but doctors found a clot which was removed.
Doctors say the ANC stalwart is in a stable, but unpredictable condition.

Director of the Amed Kathrada Foundation Neeshan Balton says they appreciate the outpouring support from people all over the world.

“He has made remarkable, but slow recovery, and thus far we are happy with the rate of recovery. The foundation will continue to provide updates to the media, and other channels, on the state of his recovery.”
