The names of five SABC interim board members will be tabled by the Communications Portfolio Committee on Tuesday.

CAPE TOWN - Parliament's Communications Portfolio Committee will on Tuesday afternoon hold discussions around the SABC's interim board.

An ad-hoc committee probing the public broadcaster concluded its work last week and has adopted its final report which recommends action against Communications Minister Faith Muthambi.

The committee found serious mismanagement, political interference and unlawful appointments apparently aided by Muthambi.

The names of five SABC interim board members will be tabled by the Communications Portfolio Committee on Tuesday.

Communications Minister Faith Muthambi was on Tuesday meant to brief the committee on the SABC's 2015/2016 financial year. However, she was a no-show and had, instead, attended an event in Soshanguve with President Jacob Zuma.

Communications Committee Chairperson Humphrey Maxegwana says the name tabling process will not be concluded on Tuesday as it includes engagement and negotiation between parties until an agreement is reached.

"This process, it's a party process to engage and persuade each other so that we emerge with the five names. Remember, we have different political parties and different interests to who must serve."

He adds that Zuma will appoint the interim board once the process reaches finality.
