JOHANNESBURG - South African Paralympian Hilton Langenhoven, who won gold and silver in Rio, says his achievements are still sinking in.

Team South Africa was welcomed by fans, family and media at OR Tambo International this morning.

South Africa finished 22nd on the overall medals table with 17 medals, comprising seven gold, six silver and four bronze.

Langenhoven won gold in the long jump and silver in the 200m.

"It's been an incredible journey since London, and to be able to add to the Paralympic medal tally from five to seven; four gold and three silver medals; is something we can look back at and say it was a phenomenal performance. We are quite in the moment and we still need to go back and reflect."
