JOHANNESBURG - Power utility Eskom says it’s progressing well with its maintenance programme which comes to an end later today.

The state utility has managed to avoid load shedding for several months now and has put a strong focus on maintaining the power grid ahead of winter when demand increases.

This long weekend technicians took some generators offline for repairs.

“We continued with our maintenance festival which will end later this evening so that we can cater for the demand which will start from tomorrow as many people go back to work,” says Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe.

“But most importantly, we will continue with the normal maintenance programme so that we can prepare our machines for the increased demand that we are expecting for winter.”
