JOHANNESBURG – The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says a high profile soccer player has been arrested for speeding as the corporation continues to take a firm stance against road traffic offenders this Easter.

The man was arrested on the Golden Highway in Johannesburg last night.

RTMC officials say he was also found driving a car without license plates.

Spokesperson Simon Zwane says a number of arrests have been made since the start of the long weekend.

“There have been a number of arrests of people who were driving at high speed and this will include a very high profile soccer player who was arrested yesterday for driving at high speed with no number plates.”
