Jackson Mthembu - From spokesman to ANC Chief Whip
The ANC has confirmed that Mthembu will be the party's new Chief Whip in Parliament.
Earlier this month, former chief whip Stone Sizani resigned from his seat in Parliament to take up an ambassadorial post in Germany.
The ANC says it believes Mthembu has the necessary experience to replace Sizani.
Mantashe says the party has confidence in its newly appointed chief whip.
At the beginning on March, the party confirmed that Sizani had been redeployed.
The party confirmed his resignation shortly after a special caucus meeting of its Members of Parliament but offered no reason for the decision.
Sizani had recently been at the forefront of the ANC's efforts to defend President Jacob Zuma during confidence motions in Parliament sparked by Zuma's admission in the Constitutional Court that he would repay some of the money spent by government on his home at Nkandla.
Sizani had been the ruling party's chief whip since 2013.
